13 Country, 25 Day,
Round-The-World McBain Adventure 2026

Jay McBain sharing a world travel story

Thirteen countries in twenty-five days sounds like a schedule. For our family, it is really a continuation—a new chapter in a journey that has already carried us across more than one hundred countries.

Travel has always been one of the ways we mark time. The routes change, the airports blur together and the photographs multiply, but the purpose stays surprisingly consistent: go somewhere unfamiliar, pay attention and come home with a wider map of the world.

The point is not the count.

Reaching country number one hundred was a milestone worth celebrating. What stayed with me, though, were the small moments around it: the detours, the family stories retold in transit, and the perspective that only arrives when a familiar routine disappears.

The best journeys do more than add places to a map. They change the person reading it.

This journal has always been the place where I keep the personal side of that story. The analyst work is about patterns at scale. Travel is a reminder that every pattern is made of real people, local context and a point of view we have not met yet.
